We would like to confirm that Dunston Primary and Nursery Academy are following the full advice of Public Health England and will keep parents/carers updated of any changes. 

 

Advice for parents on Covid-19:

 

What to do if….

Action Needed

Return to school when….

..my child has coronavirus symptoms

  • DO NOT come into school
  • Contact school daily to update on their condition
  • Self-Isolate
  • Get a PCR test
  • Inform school of the test result as soon as you get it

…the test comes back negative or 10 days after the date of the positive PCR test.  Other children in the family do not need to isolate if they have no symptoms

… my child tests positive for coronavirus symptoms

  • DO NOT come into school
  • Contact school daily to update on their condition
  • Self-isolate for at least 10 days
  • Inform school of the test result as soon as you get it

….they feel better.  They can return to school after 10 days even if they still have a cough or loss of taste/smell.  These symptoms can last for several weeks once the infection is gone.

…someone in my household has coronavirus symptoms

  • DO NOT come into school
  • Contact school daily to update on your child’s condition
  • Household member to get a test
  • Inform school of the test result as soon as they get it

…the household member test is negative

     

    …someone in my household has tested positive for coronavirus

    • DO NOT come into school
    • Contact school daily to update on your child’s condition
    • Self-isolate for 14 days

    From 16 August, you will not be required to self-isolate if you are a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 and any of the following apply:

    • you are fully vaccinated
    • you are below the age of 18 years 6 months
    • you have taken part in or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccine trial
    • you are not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons

    …NHS test and trace have identified your child as a ‘close contact’ of someone who has tested positive for coronavirus

    • DO NOT come into school
    • Contact school daily to update on your child’s condition
    • Self-Isolate for 14 days

    …we have travelled to a country where you have to quarantine on your return

    • Do not take unauthorized leave in term time
    • Consider quarantine requirements before booking travel
    • DO NOT come into school
    • Contact school daily to update on your child’s condition
    • Self-isolate for 14 days

    …the 14 days of self-isolation is complete

    Another member of the household has travelled to a country where they have to quarantine on return

    • Any members of the household who have NOT travelled do not need to self-isolate unless anyone in the household develops symptoms

    Students should be in school if they have not travelled
