What are we learning this half term?
In Key stage 1, the children will be focusing on Science and Geography. In Geography the children will be focusing on understanding the key physical and human features of our local area. This will result in the children drawing their own map of the area they live in. In Science, the children learning all about animals and their habitats. They will also be looking at different habitats and what animals and plants live there. In Art , children will be exploring line and exploring how to make different textures.
In English, our text is Wolves by Emily Gravett. The children will be writing a report all about wolves and then write their own alternative ending to the story.
In Maths, Year 1 will be looking at place value to 10, addition and subtraction and shape. Year 2 will be looking at Place Value addition and subtraction and shape.

About the author: | Quentin Blake is an English children’s book illustrator and author. He has drawn illustrations for more than 300 books. He is best known for illustrating the books of Roald Dahl. Blake received many honors during his career. He won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1980 for Mister Magnolia. In 2002 he received the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration. He was appointed the first children’s laureate in the United Kingdom. In 2013 he became a knight.
