Welcome to Year 1 and Year 2. 

We have three classes in Key Stage one, these are  Hope (Year 1), Grindleford (Year 2) and Matlock (Year 2).

What is our Enquiry Question for Spring Term 2026? 

In Key stage 1, the children will be answering the enquiry question Is change always positive?

Our enquiry subject driver this for the Spring Term is History. 

In English we are going to read the book The Great Fire of London

We are going to be writing comparisons, instructions,  diary and a descriptive poem. 

In Maths we are learning all about  multiplication and division and fractions. 

In History, we will learn all about how and when the Plague of 1665 arrived in the village if Eyam. We will also be learning about The Great Fire of London. 

In  Geography we are going to be learning to name and identify the 4 capital cities of the UK. We are also going to locate and describe where the following places on a map - Eyam, Chesterfield, Dunston, London and Sheffield. 

In Science, we are going to learn to about the properties of different materials and name our different body parts. We are also going to learn about what our senses are.                                    

In RE , we will learning about sacred times and how they are celebrated. We are also going to learn how we care and look after each other in different religions.   

In PSHE we will be looking at difference and diversity and relationships. 

In Design Technology we are going to design and make a basket for eggs.
