What are we learning this term?
Our enquiry question for the Summer Term 2025 is How can we have an impact?
This term, our driver is Design Technology.
By the end of the Summer Term 2025, we will learn how our voice can have an impact on the world around us.
We will gain wisdom about activism and how to convey a message.
In English, we will be looking at the text ‘Hello Lighthouse’ by Sophie Blackall.
We will be creating non-chronological reports and a setting description using the text as our stimulus.
Following this, we will be reading ‘The King Who Banned the Dark’ by Emily Haworth-Booth.
Using this as a stimulus to support our driver subject Design Technology, we will be creating a letter and writing a balanced debate to the pros and cons of the dark!
In Design Technology, to support our enquiry question, we will be exploring the British contemporary artist Bob and Roberta Smith who brings together sign writing and activism through using recycled materials. Using his style of art, we will be creating our own T-shirt design to convey a message support the arts in school.
In Science, to help us answer the enquiry question 'How Can we have an Impact?' , we will be investigating how to make a working circuit, their properties, the importance of reusable energy. We will use circuits to create our own torches to support our English.
In Computing, we will be exploring coding and programming.
In RE, we will discuss the impact of Holy Bible on Christians.
In Maths, In Y3 and Y4, the focus is on fractions, decimals and time in Summer 1, moving on to shapes, position and direction as well as statistics in Summer 2. The Year 4s will be completing the MTC at the beginning of summer 2 term.
