What are we learning this term?

Our enquiry question for the Spring Term 2025 is What power does water hold?

This term, our driver is Geography.

By the end of the Spring Term 2025, we will learn the value and importance of a natural resource.

We will gain wisdom about rivers, their purpose and a rich vocabulary on the subject.

We will gain further knowledge in PSHE about how to be safe around water.

In English, to support our learning in Geography, we will be looking at the text ‘Rhythm of the Rain’ by Grahame Baker-Smith.

We will be following the water's journey by writing a diary entry from the jar of water's perspective!

Following this, we will be reading ‘The Big Book of Blooms’ by Yuval Zommer.

Using this as a stimulus, we will be creating a fact file all about plants to support our Science work.

In Science, to help us answer the enquiry question 'what power does water hold?' , we will be investigating what plants need, their properties, the importance of water for plant growth as well as pollination and seed dispersal.

In Computing, we will be exploring desktop publishing and photo editing.

In RE, we will know why festivals are important to religious communities and how these deepen their faith.

In Maths, In Y3 and Y4, the focus is on multiplication and division in Spring 1, moving on to length and perimeter in Spring 2. We will be using our knowledge of multiplication and division facts up to the 12 times tables, particularly in Year 4.
