We have two classes in Key Stage one, these are Matlock (Year 1) and Grindleford (Year 2).

What is our Enquiry Question for Autumn Term 2026?
In Key stage 1, the children will be answering the enquiry question What can you do today to change tomorrow?
Our enquiry subject driver this for the Autumn Term is History.
In English we are going to read the book Paper Planes.
We are going to be writing instructions, a narrative, a poem and a newspaper report.
In Maths Year 2 are learning all about place value, addition and subtraction.
In Maths Year 1 are learning about place value, addition, subtraction and shape.
In History, we are going to be learning about the history of flight. We are going to learn about the first glider, hot air balloon and the Wright Brothers first flight in an aeroplane. We will also learn about Emilia Earhart and first Apollo mission.
In Geography, we are going to be learning to name and locate the 5 oceans and 7 continents of the world. We will also name and locate the Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere and the Equator.
In Art, we are going to be learning about Leonardo Da Vinci and his invention designs.
In Science, we are going to learn to about Autumn and identify what happens during this season. We are also going to be learning about materials and their properties.
In RE , we will learning about Christianity and what they believe in God. We will learn about some different Christian stories and what these teach Christians.
In PSHE we will be looking at what makes us special in the topic 'Being Me' and will learn about how to be safe around house products in the topic 'Drug Education'.
In Design Technology we are going to design and make a wooden aeroplane.
