What are we learning this half term?

In Key stage 1, the children will be answering the enquiry question What Makes Us Thrive? Our enquiry driver this for the Summer Term is Art.

In Art the children are going to be learning all primary, secondary and tertiary colours and how to mix them. They are also going to learn about Van Gogh and create work inspired by his art.   In Science, the children are going to learn to name parts of plants and trees, identify and name some different flowers and trees. They will also plan and undertake an investigation to find out what plants need to grow. In Design Technology , children will be learning where fruits grow and make their own fruit kebab.

In English, our text is The Magic Paintbrush by Julia Donaldson.  The children will be writing character descriptions, a retell of the story and their own story.

In Maths, Year 1 are going to learn about multiplication and division, fractions, position and direction.
