What are we learning this half term?

This half term we are continuing our Geography focus as we delve into the world of Global Trade.  We will be learning about the Fair Trade Foundation and their work to make Global Trade fair for all.

In English, we are sticking with our wolf theme from last half term and we are going to use the book ‘The Wolves in the Walls’ written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Dave McKean as our inspiration.  We will be writing our own version of this quirky story.

In RE we will continue our focus on the expression of faith through Art and Architecture, and through Science, we will be building on our learning in Y3/4 on classification, developing our ability to articulate why a particular organism is classified in a particular way.

In Maths, Y5 will be learning about decimals and percentages, and how we can represent fractions in this way.   We will then move on to extend our understanding of perimeter and area by investigating shapes other than squares and rectangles.  In Y6, the focus is also on decimals & percentages, shape (including perimeter, area and also volume), before moving onto statistics where the focus in on interpreting data.

Swimming continues for Eyam and Darley Dale. Remember, you wear uniform to school as usual and change for swimming.  For Crich, we will continue with PE in school:  so wear your PE kits on Thursday Crich!
