On 11th November, the whole school gathered outdoors to mark the two minutes silence for Armistice Day. It was a moving and emotional tribute. We joined the live BBC broadcast so we could observe wreath laying events at the Cenotaph and in Leicester at the National Arboretum. In preparation for this event, all pupils made a poppy to contribute to the wreaths made in KS1 and EYFS and the Poppy field created by KS2. Alongside this the Pupil Parliament sold poppies to support The Royal British Legion. This week in school, the children have all discussed the reasons we hold the silence on Armistice Day and what this national silence is for.
