History and Geography
- To be able to identify Sheffield and its major features.
- To be able to compare and contrast human geographical features of Sheffield and Newbold.
- To investigate how Sheffield changed overtime.
- To know how the historical changes impacted on the people of Sheffield and surrounding area.
SCIENCE -STATES AND MATTER
- To compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases.
To observe and carryout investigations to see how some materials change when cooled or heated.

What a busy Spring Term 1!
All the children in Edale have gained Makaton Stage 1 Certificate . A big thankyou to Mrs Davies, Miss Taylor, Miss Rothbotham and Mrs Smith for supporting Edale Class in this. We have mummified dolls and tomatoes as part of our History Curriculum on Egypt. We have taken part in Mental Health Week, blowing bubbles to help us concentrate on our breathing. We have had a visit from Reverend Rhoda and her team , who answered questions about their faith. We have been learning new songs in Music, thinking about the tempo. We have been working on our Art Skills(drawing and sketching portraits). We have learnt about Diversity and Culture in R.S.H.E through discussion, stories and open debate.

SPRING 1 MONTAGE
A MONTAGE OF SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES FROM SPRING 1 2022
SPELLINGS FROM SPRING 1 2022
Our PE day will be on Friday. Please can pupils come to school in their PE kit, making sure that it is suitable for the outdoor months as we will be doing PE outside as much as we can.
Our library trolley day is on Monday, remember to bring in your library books to change on Monday.
Our multiplication test is on a Thursday, please make sure you practice the correct multiplication.
Our spelling test is on a Friday, we have started with five spellings, we will add five every week and take away the first five. There will be a maximum of ten spellings per week.
Spellings for the first three weeks will be based on previous terms spellings.
We will be inthe near future reverting to Spelling Shed and TTR for spellings and times tables.
Our learning this term
We are learning about the digestive system, teeth, healthy lifestyles, different music genres, healthy relationships, why prayer is important to some people and the importance of Easter to Chrisitians, coding and basic conversation skills in French.
We are learning about the Digestive System, teeth and Food Chains (Science). Our Theme is called, 'Bite, Swallow Chew''
To what happens to the food we eat as it passes throughout the body.
To identify the different types of teeth and their functions.
To be able to explain what a food chain is, and the parts played by producers, predators and prey .
D.T - Healthy Diet and preparation of food.
French - Basic Conversation.
Music - Learning and composing Songs and Music.
RSHE - Relationships
RE - Why do people prayer ? Focus similarities and differences between different faiths. Also, Easter-focus Lent and Temptation.
In maths we will be learning:
Y3 - Groups
Recall and use multiplication and division facts from the 3,4, and 8 multiplication tables.
Solve problems using mental skills and progressing to a formal, written method.
Y4 - Groups
Recall and use multiplication and division facts for all multiplication tables 12 x12
Recognise and use factor pairs and commutativity in mental calculations.
Multiply 2-digit by three -digit numbers by one digit using a formal written method.
Divide 2 digit and 3 digit numbers.
In English we will be learning to:
